On the 11th March 2011 at 14.46 p.m. a massive 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit the north east side of Japan, triggering a deadly tsunami.

Japanese media report that the death toll is rising and thousands are missing. It is the worst earthquake to hit Japan in at least a century and has sparked dozens of fires. Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima prefectures were the most damaged areas with buildings, cars and trains overwhelmed by the tsunami.
The situation was later on made worse by some nuclear explosions in the Nuclear site at Fukushima.

An estimated 70,000 children have been displaced from their homes, lost their homes and are forced to take refuge in insecure places.

Codap is among the Companies supporting Save the Children for the first relief to mitigate the tremendous consequences of Japanese disaster and expresses its closeness to the families of the victims.

Save the Children has been carrying out an exploratory mission north of hard-hit Sendai and found children living in desperate conditions.

Save the Children has opened the first child-friendly space in Japan, protective environments where children can gather to play and share their experiences under the supervision of trained, caring adults.

Furthermore, after taking into considerations the enormous difficulties that Japanese Families are facing to survive, the International Organization is about to start the distribution of necessary supplies.
